A YouGov survey showed there are clear voices telling them why people choose not to try tennis. We recommended using this in the book to talk about the issues they face. It is divided by statements that raise the issues – turning overleaf the Tennis Foundation ‘hit back over the net’ facts that counter those concerns, demonstrating what they have done, are doing and will be doing to address them.

We felt it was really important to show ordinary people playing tennis as much as possible, to change the perception that tennis is all about middle class clubs and people in whites. This exists, but tennis can be played by anyone.

The booklet was handed out at an anniversary celebration event hosted at St James’s Palace.
